To celebrate our Local Nature Reserves in Bristol's year as European Green Capital a series of walks are being organised this autumn.

On Troopers Hill we were joined by expert David Hill to look at an important aspect of the Hill's ecology that is often overlooked - Lichens.

This was a rare chance to find out more about something that everyone will have seen but few take the time to look at in detail. Lichens are symbiotic relationships between fungi and cyanobacterium/green algae and seen close-up these have an amazing range of colours and textures.
