As always Bristol's local bird expert & broadcaster Ed Drewitt gave us a very enjoyable and informative early morning walk around the Hill. This walk was earlier in the year than our past walks. It was a damp morning with some light rain and mist in the river valley but it didn't stop the birds singing. Four cormorants flew over as we were assembling in the Field and later we heard one of the resident green woodpeckers, though this year we didn't see it. Amongst the loud singing of the wrens, crows, robbins, dunocks and great tits Ed picked out the song of the chiffchaff, which was the first he had heard this year.
